These learning modules were developed for direct caregivers working in multiple health care settings who care for a variety of patients. It is also relevant for family members caring for a loved one in the home. Direct caregivers play a very critical role in providing care to individuals in many settings of care. WHY? Because direct caregivers spend a great deal of time with their patients which helps them to gain insight and better understand the needs of these individuals.
The purpose of these courses is to further the individual’s learning and build on their current knowledge about assessing smoking safety, the effects of third-hand smoke and how to assist their patients to cease tobacco use in all forms. What the individual knows and how they use that information improve the quality and safety of the patients they care for.
