Introduction
Many nursing home residents do not move adequately and frequently enough to maintain good health. This lack of mobility may be caused by medication side effects such as sedation or dyspnea, confinement to wheelchairs with no plan of exercise in place, fear of falling and the resulting injuries, mental health issues such as depression, lack of stimulation, etc. Steps must be taken in each resident’s care plan to reduce immobility as much as possible because it has a chain reaction of impact upon cardiovascular health, joint flexibility, mental health, and overall wellbeing.

- How to document a mobility enhancement and restorative nursing program to meet Medicare/MDS requirements
