Learn how Fairview Health Services uses the PHQ-2 and PHQ-9 Patient Health Questionnaires for depression screening of patients in primary care and how they developed their current process for depression screening. See how Fairview’s process and methods might be a model for your clinic.

Audience

Physicians and other medical staff in primary care.

Objectives­

  • Understand the use of PHQ-2 and PHQ-9 screening tools.
  • Understand the process for depression screening in primary care.
  • Understand the roles of physician, other medical staff, and support staff in depression screening in primary care.

Speakers

Chris Beamish, LICSW, is a manager for Fairview Counseling Centers (FCC) and Clinical Systems Integration, which is a part of the M Health academic health system. He is responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial performance of a team of outpatient clinic therapists and integrated primary care behavioral health clinicians. Chris provides consultative and managerial support to the Fairview and M Health system related to integrated behavioral healthcare model innovation, such as: the integrated behavioral health primary care model, behavioral health home, population health, RARE, patient activation, and patient and provider engagement. He is also the lead motivational interviewing trainer for Fairview and M Health and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT).

Linda Damman, Senior Epic Engineer, Fairview Health Services. Linda is an experienced project specialist and systems analyst supporting patient care, ancillary processes and associated applications. Specialties: meaningful use, project management, process improvement, SDLC, electronic medical records, laboratory information systems, HL7 interfaces, clinician order entry, ordersets, electronic orders and results, problem analysis, risk analysis, and issue resolution.
