In November 2019, Long-term Care (LTC) facilities will be required to implement the Phase 3 requirements of the Conditions of Participation related to trauma-informed care (TIC). TIC is a process that focuses on creating an organization that is sensitive to trauma and seeks to create a culture that supports safety, transparency and trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and mutuality and empowerment.

This presentation will explore key terminology and important concepts related to trauma, its prevalence in society and the elderly and the impact trauma has on individuals from a holistic perspective. We will review the adverse childhood experiences study, resilience and the importance of connections.
