Kathie Nichols

Kathie Nichols, BSN, RN, CRRN, presents root cause analysis (RCA) as a key quality improvement tool. The information she will present in this webinar is designed for the long term care/nursing home setting, but can be used across health care settings.

In this webinar, participants will learn to identify how RCA is a valuable tool for Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), to identify the steps in the RCA process, and how to access and use the RCA Toolkit for Long-Term Care, which Stratis Health created for the nursing home setting

Speaker: Kathie Nichols, BSN, RN, CRNN, Nursing Home Liaison, Stratis Health

Kathie provides leadership for quality improvement and resident safety initiatives in Minnesota nursing homes as part of the Lake Superior Quality Innovation Network under direction of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Kathie was part of CMS’s QAPI national demonstration project and provided technical assistance to participating nursing homes as they integrated QAPI into their organizations. Kathie has extensive experience in acute and long term care including 20 years of as a director of nursing. She is a certified rehabilitation registered nurse (CRRN) and has used rehabilitation principles in supporting persons across the continuum of care.
