This 30-minute presentation will describe the development of the Nevada Sepsis Coalition Toolkit for skilled nursing facilities and provide an overview of the individual tools in the toolkit. The Sepsis Toolkit is designed to support skilled nursing facilities in early recognition and intervention for signs and symptoms of sepsis in residents.

Donna S. Thorson, MS, CPHQ, CPPS, HealthInsight senior project manager for the nursing home team, Las Vegas, Nevada. Since joining HealthInsight in 2001, Ms. Thorson has worked with providers and the community to improve the quality and safety of health care. She convenes and facilitates collaborative groups statewide to identify and implement evidence-based strategies that improve health care processes and systems, and provides training and technical assistance on quality improvement methodology. Ms. Thorson is a frequent presenter on quality improvement (including human factors concepts) nationally and in Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.
