The National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative invites you to the first webinar of Learning Session 5. Dementia care is the topic of this webinar, with special emphasis on reducing unnecessary antipsychotic medications and how QAPI can help homes achieve this reduction.

Audience

Long term care staff.

Objectives­

  • Describe the motivation for reducing antipsychotic medications for persons with dementia.
  • Identify progress that has been made regarding state and national antipsychotic medication reduction goals.
  • Describe how to reduce the inappropriate use of antipsychotic medications using QAPI principles.

Speaker

Kristi Wergin, RN, BSN, CPHQ, is a program manager with Stratis Health. Kristi has 30+ years of experience as a registered nurse, with specific background in eldercare, quality improvement, leadership, management, and customer/employee satisfaction. Currently, she leads the Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative for the Lake Superior Quality Innovation Network to guide nursing homes in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in quality improvement efforts. Kristi serves as a co-convener for the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Home Campaign in Minnesota, and leads the Minnesota Partnership to Improve Dementia Care.
