Minnesota Department of Health and Stratis Health, as part of Lake Superior Quality Innovation Network, are sponsoring the 2017 Minnesota Antibiotic Stewardship Conference. This year, the conference will have a long-term care focus, with content provided in the form of panels and long-term care professionals sharing field experiences with antibiotic stewardship.
Audience
Long term care professionals, including physicians, advanced practice providers, and consultant pharmacists. We encourage facilities to send an antibiotic stewardship team, consisting of infection prevention, nursing, prescriber, administration, and pharmacy representation.
Objectives
- Learn the CDC core elements of antibiotic stewardship for skilled nursing facilities
- Understand new antibiotic stewardship rules and expectations for skilled nursing facilities
- Develop preliminary action plan for launching an antibiotic stewardship program
Speakers
The keynote speaker is Christopher J. Crnich, MD, PhD, associate professor, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, UWSMPH, Madison, WI, Chief of Medicine, Wm. S. Middleton Veterans Administration Hospital, Madison, WI, nationally recognized expert in long-term care facility antibiotic stewardship.

Physician AMA PRA Category 1 Credit
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) through the joint sponsorship of Stratis Health and conference partners. Stratis Health is accredited by the MMA to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Stratis Health designates the Conference for 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
